Nobody cares when a man does not act right. Because there is always someone to blame for his behaviour, possibly the closest woman in his life.
And, even when they blame him, they are not blaming him, instead they are blaming an aspect of his being: his sex.
It's a man's right to misbehave, you see.
While the whole upbringing of the female child is geared towards marriage and being the best wife a man can dream of, the male child is not raised to be a husband. He is not even raised to be a good person.
The sole focus of a male child and the reason why the family invests so much in him, is for him to be successful and provide for his family.
Yesterday, I asked the following question: "What matters to success driven people? Is it character, personality, attitude or behaviour?"
Jane answered attitude, and she is right.
Since male children are not raised to be good husbands, their behaviour is not important.
"Boys will be boys."
Since male children are not raised to be good people, their character does not matter either.
"A man has to do what a man has to do."
A man's personality is not even relevant either, since his emotional needs are often neglected and suppressed.
"Real men don't cry."
What matters in the upbringing of the average male is his attitude because he can push for the level of success that his family and society expects from him, only if he possesses the right attitude.
He is allowed to achieve this success by any means possible.
Once a man has attained an enviable level of success, everybody expects everything else to fall into place. There is no reason why anybody should complain about him as long as he is playing the role of a provider.
In our society, the criteria for being a good person differs for men and women. A woman is a good person if she behaves well. A man is a good person if he provides for his family.

When next you come across a good man or a good woman, ask yourself, why you even care to make the distinction between man and woman. Why don't you just say person?
Could it be that you too have been influenced to be partial with your judgement and don't care about the entirety of a person, since you focus only on the aspect that you have been told matters?
Think about it.
