RAPE IS NOT ABOUT SEX

I have come across several posts and comments in the line of: "Why rape when there are so many men and women around? Or he could pay a prostitute."

Well, the problem is that, those men and women are not interested in having sex with people. They are interested in the thrill that comes with overpowering, controlling and humiliating a person.

That's why they rape. Their sexual gratification does not come from the sex per se. It comes from all the elements I have listed above.

Also, rape is not described as the forceful insertion of the penis inside the vagina or the act of forcing your vagina on a penis. It is described as the insertion of foreign objects into one's sexual organ without their consent or performing sexual acts on someone without their consent.

So, for those who say that rapists should be castrated and thrown into prison, let me just tell you that depriving a man of his penis and a woman of her vagina will not stop them from raping.

You can rape a woman by penetrating her vagina with a stick or any other foreign object. You can rape a man by giving him oral sex or using a vacuum cleaner to suck him off.

The Russian serial killer Andrei Chikatilo was impotent, and yet most of the victims were found with their sex organs violated and mutilated. He murdered children of both sexes.

We need to be more informed about rape and about why people rape. I believe rape is associated with a mental disorder. Because people with a balanced mind do not seek to control, humiliate and inflict pain on others.

Rape stems from an internal battle with low self esteem, the need for validation and the desire to feel important and powerful.

Why would some men or women prefer to rape their partners rather than have consensual sex with them?

Why would that man or woman who has been asking you out nicely, suddenly attempt to rape you after you have said no to them for the umpteenth time?

In the first case, the husband or wife is not looking for sex. He or she is looking for thrill. It is a matter of "you are mine and I can do whatever I want with you". It wouldn't be fun if the man or woman consented to it. What's the point of having a slave who is happy to be a slave? How would he or she get his or her gratification from humiliating someone who is content with being humiliated?

In the second case, it is a form of punishment: "You rejected me, and I want to prove to you that you are in no position to do that. I can have you any time I want and there is nothing you can do about it".

Rapist are not looking for sex, neither are they looking for love. Some men and women who rape are people who come from loving families. Some have spouses and children that love and adore them. And they still rape.

The ones who rape children are the sickest. Children are the most vulnerable members of our society. Adults rarely listen to children when they speak and they also rarely believe them. Paedophiles are sick because they understand the advantage they have over these little human beings and do not hesitate to use it.

Nobody should try and equate rape to sex again. They have nothing to do with each other.

When you have sex with a person, that person is part of the experience. You are sharing a moment with another consenting human being.

When you rape someone, that someone is not part of the experience. They are an object, a prop: a tool of gratification.

We need to learn these distinctions because failure to do so will result in the continuation of this sick rape culture.
