ARE YOU MATURE?

No. Maturity is not the ability to take crap and endure all sorts of rubbish, as taught by the Nigerian society.

Instead, you are considered mature when all the 5 traits of your personality have reached a state of stability.

What are these 5 traits?

The Big Five Traits, also known as the five-factor model, and the OCEAN model, is a taxonomy for personality traits. (Wikipedia).

Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness and Neuroticism.

OPENNESS: are you inventive and curious? Or are you consistent and cautious?

CONSCIENTIOUSNESS: are you efficient and organised or are you easy going and careless?

EXTRAVERSION; are you outgoing and energetic or are you solitary and reserved.

AGREEABLENESS: are you compassionate and friendly or are you challenging and detached?

NEUROTICISM: are you sensitive and nervous or are you secure and confident?

As usual personality does not say if you are a good or a bad person. It says more about your likeability as a person.

You are born with your personality and by the age of 7, it is usually formed, even though it never stops evolving throughout your entire life.

Character instead starts forming at the age of 10 and locks in by the time a person is 21. It makes sense to say that those 11 years are the most important years in the formation of your values as a person.

On an average, people achieve a good level of stability around the age of 30: they become more self aware and more equipped to handle personal and professional problems.

As usual, I will be proposing a test which you can use to measure your level of maturity in the next few days.

You can also read more about these 5 traits by doing a quick search around the web.
