There are many ways one can use social media. You can use it to learn, you can use it to chill, you can use it to teach and you can use it to troll.
As much as I respect everybody's choice on how they decide to use their technological gadgets and data, we still have to admit that some use are more honourable than others.
You cannot put a troll on the same level as a social activist, or with someone who uses social media to better themselves.
I noticed that people are always quick to insult and undermine people who have built a successful brand over the years through their consistency on social media. They call them Social Media Celebrities, as to say "na only for social media una matter".
They couldn't be farther from the truth. These people are really changing lives.
If we consider Facebook, for example, even among the so called Facebook celebrities there are leagues. You cannot put a celebrity who is popular because of his or her posts that continually shit on human rights and dignity with the one whose articles uplift and impact lives.
To become a Facebook celebrity nor be beans, and becoming the latter is even harder. You have to be truly intelligent. It's not just enough that you know the surface of trending topics and world issues. Your posts have to have depth and trigger the kind of thinking one would not experience in their daily mundane life.
No matter how much you dislike this set of people, you have to give it to them that them dey try. Kole easy.
And it's not that these people are always right. it's just that you do not know enough to poke holes into their arguments. You cannot come with your mediocre mind and brain and expect them to concede in the name of respecting your opinions.
Nobody gives a fuck about your opinions. If you cannot defend your opinions without facts, abeg, park well.
Love them or hate them, you gotta respect them.
They have earned it.
