Nigerian men are trying to promote the narrative that women are making fun of Chioma. But these same men were the ones making comparisons between Chioma and other women and baby mamas a year and a half ago, when she and Davido got engaged.
They placed her on the same pedestal as Annie, and praised her for having succeeded in making a husband out of a whore.
Then they attributed her success to the fact that she had given birth to a son, an endeavour at which Davido's other baby mamas had failed.
They shut down any woman who highlighted the dysfunctional nature of the Chivido relationship and pointed out that Chioma was setting herself up for a terrible heartbreak.
Months later, it was revealed that Davido had indeed fathered yet another child with another woman; a woman he impregnated while he was putting up an internet show with Chioma.
One would expect Nigerian men to retrace their steps and quit defending the public inseminator. Instead they made it a case of "Las las na Chioma he go marry". No blames. No calling out. Just a light smack on his shoulder and loads of pity consolations for Chioma.
Now the chicken has come to roost and it has become official that the two have gone their separate ways. Davido has been dating another woman since last year and yesterday, they were recorded together at a nightclub.
What are Nigerian men saying?
They still have no words of blame for Davido. Instead they are reminding us that he's still young and still needs to sow his wild oats before he settles down.
Nigerian women on the other hand, have been consistent. They are repeating exactly what they said back in 2019. There is no pretence and no pity party. Because Chioma does not deserve any pity. We can understand her for being young and naive - isn't she like 24 or 25? But beyond that, we don't owe her a damn thing.
There are cases where women are genuinely victims of irresponsible men who just want to toss them around and use them for cruise. This is not one of them.
Chioma knew that Davido already had three baby mamas.
She knew that he was still sleeping with other women.
She had a baby with him when they still hadn't gotten married or he hadn't made efforts to be faithful.
She went in with her eyes wide open. I cannot feel sorry for any woman who saw the handwriting on the wall and still went ahead to toe the path.
Nigerian men are the group of people who have done nothing but play ludo with Chioma's head since the very beginning of her relationship with Davido. Na them laugh this woman pass.
I mean the same men who were praising her for birthing Ifeanyi, a male child, for Davido are now the ones asking her "Why you go born for man when he never marry you?"
As in the thing dey choke.
