HIS MONEY IS NOT THE REASON WHY HE IS ABUSIVE

Nigerian men want women to believe that the mistake Precious made was getting married to a rich man. They had to blame the woman for being a gold digger. Poor men always push forth this narrative whenever a rich man is exposed for being a serial cheat or abusive. However, on this same platform, we have read news of men who didn't have a dime behaving the same way. 

The news of the pastor who murdered his wife in cold blood is still fresh. In that case, the men waited for a reason to blame the woman until one goat somewhere finally decided to accuse the deceased of the good old fashioned adultery. And they all took the bait. The autopsy never said anything about Barbara being pregnant. But who cares. They were willing to swallow the concocted nonsense just to exonerate the man from any blame.

Poor men want you to believe that they are better than rich men.

Religious men want you to believe that they are better than irreligious men. 

Men from a particular tribe or state want you to believe that they are better than men from other regions. Etc...

Well, there is no difference between any of these men. Because the upbringing that men receive in Nigeria does not teach them that women are only inferior to a certain category of men. They are taught that women are inferior to men. Period. Rich, poor, religious, non religious, southern, northern, etc.. It doesn't matter.

Like Esiri Ukueku-Uduaghan wrote the other day, any labels that you want to use to sugarcoat this truth is just what it is: sugarcoating.

Stop fixating yourself on useless labels or irrelevant traits like tribe, religion, denomination, spirituality, etc. Those are useless.

Focus on his upbringing. Ask him what he thinks of women: of their roles in the society, in politics and at home. If the man has nothing good to say, don't stay there and play "saviour". You are not special. I repeat, "YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL".

I believe that Precious knew about FFK's ex wives and I believe that she was hinted on why those marriages ended, but blame it on "my own will be different" for her decision to go ahead and marry him. Especially if he told her a totally different story. 

"You are too beautiful to be a feminist. I'm sure you can easily get a man" - 🤣 Did our society say that beautiful women are treated with more respect? NO! Our society only says that beautiful women have a social currency that they can exchange for a man's money. 

Again, the upbringing doesn't say that men are superior to only a category of women. It says that men are superior to women. Period. No matter how beautiful, educated, rich, well read, well travelled you are, you will always be a woman who is inferior to ANY man.

Anyway we know how this will end. Precious's aunt and uncle have been bribed into spreading the lies that the woman is mentally unstable, and that she is the abuser. And it's only a matter of time before the men buy into it.

One woman somewhere will read those claims and also decide that her own will be different too. And so next year FFK will marry his fifth wife, and we shall all wait for her to come out and say in two years time (one year of suffering and one year of shame): "My own was even worse".
