ONLY GIVE OUT WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD TO LOSE

Imagine you own a house. A well furnished, cosy home that is all yours. Then one day, necessity calls. A person you love is in critical conditions and in dire need of financial aide.

You start by spending all your money until you have none left. Then you borrow, until you can't anymore. So you turn to the only thing that you have, your home, and you start selling off pieces of furniture until you have none left.

You look at your house and you remember your loved one whom you could lose at any given time. And you tell yourself, "I don't need windows", so you part with them. After the windows you turn to the doors, and you sell those ones too.

However it is not enough. So one day, you sell the roof, and gradually you start selling the bricks until there is nothing left of your house, except the land upon which it was built. A land which you ultimately sell.

Your loved one may heal or may not heal, but now you are left with nothing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are people that when they love they give everything that they can possibly give: time, emotions, finances, support, etc... If there is anything that they can part with, they will gladly do it to make the person that they love happy.

But then this person you are giving your all to may hurt you. And by hurting you, they reject everything that you have given them, hence the idea that you haven't offered them enough. At this point, the best option for you would be to quit trying and take your all somewhere else.

However many of you will stay by, and you will start taking from what you shouldn't be taking from: the very part of you that makes you whole and safe. You take, and you take, until there is nothing left. And that's how one day you look yourself in the mirror andyou  do not recognize the person staring back at you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

You should stop at your furniture. Even at that point, you have gone too far.

The people who love us will never watch us as we give and give to them until the point where we start eroding ourselves. The people who love us replenish whatever we have given out and also add a top up. They maintain our whole. They don't empty us. They don't nullify us.

Think about it.
