DISBANDING SARS WON'T DO ANYTHING TO STOP THE VIOLENCE AGAINST NIGERIAN WOMEN

Written on 19/10/2020

If Nigeria were a country where abusers and rapists were regularly brought to book, I'd understand why we'd be agitating to get rid of these power hungry law enforcers.

However Nigeria is a country where abusers and rapists do and undo, and nothing is hardly ever done to them.

In Nigeria a woman is more likely to experience violence by a civilian than she would with by a policeman or SARS official. As a matter of fact, women often know the men that abuse them and rape them.

Why exactly are you trying to make it seem that the law works for everybody except for these officers? Why are you lying that the law protects women from ordinary men, but not these ones?

Women are not protected in Nigeria. Period.

Don't lie, twist or sugar-coat. We are not dumb.

And stop attracting disgusting misogynists to my wall.
