This sentence reminds me a lot of the Shrodinger's cat paradox. There is a cat in a box. It could be alive or it could be dead. Nobody will know for sure until the box is opened, so the best assumption is that the cat is both dead and alive.
How does this apply to that sentence?
The cat is these women's marriages.
The box is their privacy.
Until we invade their privacy and break into it, nobody will know for sure if their marriages follow the feminists ideology or the patriarchal setting.
The best assumption would be that their marriages follow both the patriarchal setting and feminist ideology.
What mistake did the person who made that statement make?
They eliminated the possibility that these marriages might have a feminist undertone simply because they do not support the feminist ideology.
How does this elimination contradict the common sense they claim to have?
Let me first of all state that science is not about common sense. If science was about common sense, the most logical assumption would be that the cat will die after a certain period of time due to the deprivation of oxygen.
Likewise, if we applied common sense to these marriages, we'd be right to assume that they do have a feminist undertone, if not always, at least in the majority of times.

Hillary is officially known as Hillary Clinton but officiously she's knows as Hillary D Rodham Clinton. She never dropped her maiden name. She started using Clinton in public to push forward her husband's political agenda. Even her decision to remain married to Bill was a political move as Hillary had always had ambitions that went beyond being a FLOTUS. She was a senator from 2001-2009. She was secretary of state from 2009-2013. She was a presidential candidate in 2017.
Chimamanda N Adichie is even more extreme. She never dropped her maiden name or added her husband's surname. She corrected journalists who called her Mrs Esege and insisted on being called Ms Adichie. Last year she went as far as challenging Hillary on her decision to write wife first on her Twitter bio, and guess what? Hillary edited her bio subsequently to reflect a more modern profile.
Think: what does common sense tell you about these women?
Do you really think that these women are your feminists on the streets, princesses in the sheet?
Come on. Stop sounding dumb in the attempt to sound woke.
