What's wrong with what Halima Abubakar did?
There are people who are actually justifying what Halima did because according to them "the pikin face nor show sef". While they think that this particular fact makes her offence less ludicrous, they might want to know that the choice of the body part she decided to reveal, makes her action a symptom of a much bigger problem.
The question here is not "What is so special about this baby's hand that someone else cannot use its picture?"
The question here is "What is so special about Halima's baby's hand that she had to use someone else's picture?"
Even if the concealing was meant to protect the baby from strange spiritual attacks, can your enemy identify a baby by simply looking at its hand? A hand that has nothing remarkable about it? It's safer to assume that there is no baby at all.
Just like Oge Okoye didn't have cute puppies. Kcee Kcee didn't make tens of thousands of dollars in a day. And Blessing Whatsherface didn't build a house.
It's not a crime to not have.
That's why you will be hitting your head on the wall because someone called your parents poor, until the person actually posts a picture of your parents' house.
What does it cost you to be confident of what you have today, while working on gaining more tomorrow?
But I understand. You have to lie that you are more financially capable than you actually are since "money talks, bullshit walks". In Nigeria, money is literally everything. If someone senses that you have plenty money at your disposal, they will think twice before they act stupid towards you.
So yes, let's forgive Halima. She is nothing but a crayfish in the condition that is Nigeria. That baby is her own way of showcasing her wealth: poor people don't have children.
